in which a section of ileum is isolated, and after intestinal continuity has been restored the isolated section is drawn down with its mesenteric blood supply to form a new vagina.

If a functioning uterus is present, it will usually be found that there is a patent cervix and an area of normal vaginal epithelium above the atresia, and that this epithelium can be freed by dissection and drawn down to the introitus.

In cases of congenital malformation of the vagina there are often also abnormalities of the ureters or kidneys, which should always be investigated by pyelography or ultrasound. In infants the anal canal must be carefully examined.

Septate vagina Sometimes the fusion of the two Mullerian ducts is incomplete, so that there is partial or complete duplication of the vagina, with an anteroposterior septum between the two passages. The uterus may also be duplicated. One vaginal passage may be larger than the other, and used for intercourse, or both may be equally developed. A vaginal septum may be completely missed on vaginal examination if the thin septum is displaced to one side and the other passage is not noticed. Sometimes a septum may obstruct delivery, but if it does not give way it can easily be divided.

Absent or rudimentary uterus

Complete absence of the uterus is very rare, but it may be rudimentary, when it is simply represented by a small thickening at the upper limit of the vagina. The endometrium is absent and there is amenorrhoea.

Failure of fusion of the Miillerian ducts

Failure of fusion of the two Mullerian tracts will give rise to varying degrees of duplication of the uterus and vagina, as shown in Fig. 8.2. There may be associated abnormalities of the ureters and kidneys.

Uterus didelphys

In this condition there is a complete lack of fusion of the Mullerian ducts, with a double uterus and double vagina.

Uterus bicomis bicollis

The two horns of the uterus remain completely separate as far as their cavities are concerned, although there is some fusion of the muscular walls, and the cervix is double. There mayor may not be a vaginal septum.

Uterus bicomis unicollis

The body of the uterus is bifid but the cervix is normally developed. The uterine horns may be unequal in size.

  2. QUESTION:
Does my sister need to get her uterus removed? is this possible?
aged 48, has a fibroid in her uterus measuring 3 cm x 4 cm. She is under menopause but does not have a heavy flow. She has normal bleeding for a day and a half and there is no white discharge or any pain. But, if the doctor examines her abdomen by pressing the lower abdomen, she has a little pain. Is it necessary to have her uterus removed on an emergency basis or she can wait for some time. Can she lead a normal life with this size of the fibroid in her uterus?

  3. QUESTION:
Retained Placenta, Fibroid, or Ovarian Cyst??!!?
Looking for some advice from people in the health profession if possible. Here’s my story:

I had a late miscarriage at 16 weeks May 31 due to a Subchorionic Hemorrhage that caused an infection of Pepto-Streptococcus. I was given IV antibiotics in the hospital and a week’s worth of Doxycycline at home. Since then, my body has not been right which I know can be expected, but I seriously think something is wrong. I stopped the lochia bleeding mid June and started my “period” July 9. However I continued to bleed every other day throughout July and was prescribed Provera to stop the bleeding. It did stop the bleeding, however now there is a 3 cm Cyst on my left ovary and a fibroid or polyp in my uterus about 1 cm big. My 2 periods since Provera have been nothing but spotting, and I don’t think I’m ovulating.

    NOW to the worrisome part:
I have been experiencing a very strange pain on my cervix or in that vicinity; as well as the urge to pee often. I also have horrible increasing ovarian/pelvic pain. I’ve tested negative for BV, Yeast, and Trich. Is there any chance what I’m being told is a fibroid is actually retained placenta thus causing infection?? I’ve seen 2 doctors and I’m SO FRUSTRATED AND SCARED!!!
Wanted to add: I would also like experience from someone who maybe has had retained placenta or an in utero infection or post partum infection. Thanks.

ummm, go back to the doctor, they would know for sure

  4. QUESTION:
Large partially pedunculated fibroid leiomyoma 10.2 x 8.6 x 9.7 of the anterior uterus… HELP?
In a way I can tell I’m blessed why? In 2008 I used to blame myself and others who caused a car accident that I was in. I lost so much after that accident not being able to have the very good health and physic I used to have. From 162 no I weight 210. I went to so many doctors after my accident because my neck and back was really in pain. I finally found a doctor who did thank lord give me hope that everything could go back to normal. Until the other day my chiropractors to finish my treatment cause my insurance almost with no balance, he told me that he will MRI my back. When they did they found and confirmed that I had a herniated disc L5-S1 that this accident had make worst because a previous chiropractor told me I had a disc problem before 3 days before the accident etc… But that MRI for my back shows a growing mass inside my pelvic. They send me for a pelvic ultrasound. Also the days of the MRI my tummy to the right side move so much that was crazy and I was extremely dizzy. Result came like that:

    Age: 26
    Sex: Female

History: Pelvic pain with heavy menses.

Finding: utilizing a full urinary bladder as an acoustic window, the pelvis was evaluated and the uterus is in a normal anteverted/anteflexed orientation measuring 8.4 x 9.8 x 8.0 cm. The uterus contains a very large anterior complex leiomyoma, which measures 10.2 x 8.6 x 9.7 cm. The right and left adnexa are normal. There is no free fluid within the cul-de-sac.

Impression: There is a large soft tissue mass involving the anterior uterus almost certainly representing a large partially pedunculated leiomymoma, which measures 10.2 x 8.6x 9.7 cm. This is an otherwise normal study.

I had so many symptoms related to this now I realized when I make search, I though it was normal to have these symptoms or I was like that but I was in silence sick.

    -around 2 to 3 days

-I always fell pain when I’m ovulating like I’m having my period on my right ovaries side and pain bit after period since 1 year ½ now.
-My right side belly itch me so much when I eat sugar or bad food or fell like biting me inside to my skin.
-when I crave too much sugar and eat really too much I have a gluant mucus think like mucus and clear going out my vagina with no smell, sometimes itch lightly. When I take the GSE grapseed oil it’s ok.
-under my skin all over my body something fell like stuff crawling.
-end 2007/start 2008 after doing a master cleanse I start noticing theses itch on my right side belly. And I was for 2 months on and off yeast infection diagnosed was Candida vaginitis.
-during the cleanse fell like one day my right ovary need to go out like something pulling out.
    - I never tried to cleanse my body ever since.

    • ANSWER:
Fibroids are clumps of uterine extra tissue overgrowths, some do not cause any discomfort and the ones that are larger and that will need to be surgically removed through an incision like a c-section to basically go into the uterus . If you are 26 years old, and want children, make sure that they leave your ovaries, tubes and uterus intact and NOT TO REMOVE THEM and only remove the fibroids. However, if your doctor suggests that something be removed so the fibroids don’t come back and start growing again? Ask him what your options are. Don’t be afraid to ask your doctor all the questions you have. Make a short list and take it with you to your appointment. Be ready with some questions.

You will be OK. Have faith, and speak to someone at Social Security and start some benefits, you need to speak to a counselor, a dietician, and you need alot of support, emotional and medically. And try to have someone with you all the time, because you shouldn’t be alone in this.

  6. QUESTION:
What’s the $ costs of removing fibroid, cyst and mass by Laparoscopy or Hysteroscopy? FL and non-FL surgery.
Ultrasound images shows that I have an enlarged uterus (10.4 x 5 cm) with a 8 cm mass that might be a fibroid. There are also a 3.7 cm cyst and a 9 cm “complex mass which is predominantly solid”. An MRI was recommended by the analyst.

I am in the process of scheduling an MRI with a OB/GYN. The one I am referred to is not on my insurance’s “Preferred Privider” list, but he is the best in town. Since surgically removing the masses by Laparoscopic Myomectomy or Hysteroscopic Myomectomy is very likely, I am worry about the costs, my insurance will only cover 60% for out-of-network surgeon. Can anyone share their experience? The cost of:
    – MRI
    – Hospitalization and Surgery
In short, how much is the total bill (before insurance reimbursement) to get the whole thing done and be over with?

    • ANSWER:
Laparoscopy surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her Hernia and colostomy surgery in India by a company called Forerunners Healthcare .The Price for Minimal Invasive and Laparoscopy surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the cost she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. They arrange Hernia, Appendectomy, Thyroid and other laparoscopy surgery for foreigners in India.
I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the Hernia, Colostomy and other minimal invasive surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

  7. QUESTION:
Get answers from millions of real people.?
I had two miscarriages in the past 5 months, the only problem is a fibroid 3,3 cm on the wall of the uterus. I have an HSG planned for tomorrow but I am so afraid to go because I am spotting still (10th day of my period) and I am afraid of complications. Is there an alternative to the HSG?Is there another exam I can do to have a better look on the fibroid? I don’t think I need the HSG because since I was able to conceive I don’t think I have a problem with my fallopian tubes.
Can someone give me advise on the issue
    Thank you
sarah jane thank you for the answer.
I decided to cancel it because of the spotting, and go on next month. My doctor was out of town..
    thank you

    • ANSWER:
Call your doctor and ask about the spotting, they might want to reschedule. Also ask specifically why you are having this test- there is probably a good reason that your doctor can explain to you.

As for needing the HSG, you can develop a blockage at any time, so just because you’ve had one child doesn’t mean you are free of blockages.

When you do go for the HSG, be prepared for it to hurt- but it only lasts about 30 seconds, so it’s not that bad. They will tell you “mild discomfort” but this is not true, it hurts a lot, but it’s over quick. I knew what to expect, so I wasn’t scared- if I didn’t know how much it was going to hurt it would have scared me half to death.

      Good luck

  8. QUESTION:
please advice. pregnant and have a huge fibroid.?
i am 14 weeks pregnant and i ve got a big fibroid (10 cm accross), on the outside of my uterus. the baby is fine for now. my doc says the fibroid could cause misacrriage.
now as much as i hate to think of such a possibility, it would be helpful to know if certain foods or herbs such as pomegranate can prevent miscarriage..
if i take less salty and spicy food will it stop the growth of the fibroid to some extent ?
and i ve been told to undergo a blood test that checks for down syndrome. is this test given to all carrying women or does fibroids have anything to do with down’s syndrome ?
also beacuse of the fibroid, i ve had to undergo an ultrasound already and once more because my doc could not hear the baby with the doppler. and i am having one more next month. thats 3 times already. is this good for the baby ?
i am 28 years old and my husband is 32.
    thanks for any help.

    • ANSWER:
congrats on your baby i’m pregnant as well my mum had three fibroids and just had a baby 3 weeks ago she was very healthy the obvious thing to do is no heavy lifting and avoid sex until your at least 20 weeks to be on the safe side downs test are routine and the fibroid is not a contributing fact but its your choice whether or not you would like to know ultra sound totally safe it always nice to see your bundle of joy
      good luck

  9. QUESTION:
    Fibroids/Adenomyoma?
I am 29 with no children. I have always had a very regular period until a few years ago. I started to get night sweats and gradually longer, heavier periods. This past period (which is STILL continuing) started on Feb 8th! I went to my OBG on Monday who felt my uterus and said it was enlarged. I have had an ultra sound in the past which shows I have a fibroid tumor 3 cm in diameter. So her suspicion is that either the fibroid has gotten larger or I have this adenomyoma in which your uterine lining thickens and grows into itself.
She suggested another set of ultrasouunds, followed by Lupron injections to shrink it then surgery to shave it away.
I am into naturally healing and to be honest I will go for the ultra sounds to see whats up, but I probably will not concent to surgery or hormones. My main goal is to preserve my fertility.
Has anyone gone through this that can offer any advice?
    No jerks please.

    • ANSWER:
If you want to try and reduce fibriods naturally, avoid:
Birth control pills, Hormone replacement drugs, condom spermicides, Conventional personal care products, particularly cosmetics, Plastic cookware, Growth hormones found in factory-farmed animal products, Pesticides and herbicides, DDT, PCBs – polychlorinated biphenyls, and foaming agents in soaps and detergents

Make sure you are at your ideal weight, not overweight.

And reduce stress in your life.

Sometimes going on a water fast, for a period of time eating nothing and drinking only water, can help.

  10. QUESTION:
Is this a cyst or a fibroid. Please advice ladies.I am very stressed. I have been through a lot in last 10 mos.?
I had cyst like pain in my left side 2 months back which started soon after my period.I have had left side ovarian cysts earlier and the pain was just the same along with burning while peeing.Always associated with cysts. Also since 2 mos when I am supposed to ovulate from the left side I don’t but from the right side I do ovulate.
I had ultrasound done in June and there was no cyst but 2 weeks back after another ultrasound and the symptoms they found the cyst.
The guy who did my ultrasound was a senior radiologist doctor. He started seeing with the ultrasound on my belly he first said there is NO cyst then after 2-3 mins when he came back to it he found a small functional cyst of 1.9 cm.
He gave me pics of the ultrasound.

    Now what bothers me is:
Why didnt he find the cyst at first could this mean its a fibroid in the uterus and not a cyst?

I have spotting sometimes after heavy exercise, is that also a symptom for an ovarian cyst?

I am very worried about the above 2 things although I acted crazy and went back to the doctor the next day and he said showed me where the cyst is etc on the pics and said with a smile why I am questioning his 20 yrs of experience in radiology. Now what bothers me is he’s not a gynecologist.

I am so worried because I had a stillborn 10 mos back and want to start trying to conceive again and want to be sure this is just a cyst.

    Please help me.

    • ANSWER:
It sounds like a cyst to me. I have frequent pain on my right side and my doctor told me it was classic cyst pain. I get it any time during the month. I too had a stillborn 12 months ago, and a late (2nd trimester) miscarriage 3 weeks ago. Ugh, nothing seems to be working out this last year. But cyst or fibroid, I would think you could TTC again. Fibroids are difficult to remove, and cyst generally pose no risk to pregnancies. My doctor thinks my blood clotted in the placenta/umbilical cord in both losses. Nothing related to my occasional cyst.
I hate it when people act all high and mighty when they are the “expert” on things. Your ultrasound tech shouldn’t have given you that attitude, but I think it’s not unusual for a tech to have to search for a little wile to find what they’re looking for.
Are you thinking this is not a cyst but maybe something horrible like cancer. You would have other signs like irregular cycles, and such, but not necessarily pain.
I don’t know if spotting after exercise is a sign of cyst. I usually have no mid cycle spotting, but my sister does a lot and she also gets the occasional cyst.
      Good luck with everything.

  11. QUESTION:
Could this be cancer? please help im very anxious?
Hi i am a 43 year old woman and for the past 14 years i have had IUD i was supposed to get it removed after 10 years but i have had it for 14 years now. I havent been getting my monthly periods for over 3 months now. The same thing has occured over a year ago but when i got my period again i didnt feel the need to see a doctor. Now when i go to the bathroom everytime there is allways blood on the toilet paper i thought it was my period but it wasnt. And i also see brown colored discharge too and it even falls out when i urinate into the toilet. I am also bloated and sometimes experience mild abdominal pain that are like cramps but they are not cramps because i have not been getting my period. I went to the gynocologist and they ran exams and they gave me an TRANSABDOMINAL PELVIC ULTRASOUND EXAM. They found thr uterus mildy enlarged meauring 10.7 x 7.2 x 4.9 cm. They also said i have thickened endometrium with cystic changes and also approximately 3 cm left intramural uterine body fibroid. Could this be cancer of the uterus? Thank you very much. The doctor wants me to go for a biopsy

    • ANSWER:
I can’t give you a definate answer but i can reassure you a bit here ..your doctor is doing the right thing ..i would get the biopsy done asap, for my own peace of mind..i had similar symptoms to you..so my doctor did the same tests you mentioned above plus i had a blood test and pap smear…i was so nerveous for about a week..just waiting for the results…even though my doctor had told me that in 24 yrs of being a doctor she had never diagnosed uterine cancer..Eventually i got my results and it ended up being an ovarian cyst and i also had iron defficiency due to heavy bleeding. My pap smear was 100% clear…I just want you to know that there are many feminine medical conditions that are not cancer…I’m sorry you have to go through the agonising wait..but once you have the results it will be such a huge relief..and remember that a lot of things can be treated if diagnosed early..

  12. QUESTION:
Very painful intercourse, been having sex for 3 years.?
Alrighty, so I have a uterine fibroid (non cancerous tumor in the uterus), and it’s 10 cm which is large. I’m only 20 and they can’t do anything about it right now — all the surgeries could impair my ability to have kids and I want kids. Also, they don’t want to perform a life changing surgery on a 20 year old either, and I agree. I have had very irregular periods for 8 or 9 years, basically had it 2 or 3 periods a month, very heavy, a lot of clotting. For the past year, my period has virtually been non existent — 3 or 4 times since last December, so I stopped taking my birth control pills. So that’s the kind of background information, now onto the question!

I have a steady boyfriend, about 5 years now, we live together, and we used to have great sex. A couple years ago it was enjoyable and pleasurable and it did not hurt. I don’t know if it’s relevant but I was bleeding a lot back then, but on off days when I wasn’t, the sex did not hurt, not a single part of it. Now that it’s been gone a year, it’s been hurting a lot. From beginning to finish, every part of it HURTS. Sometimes I want to cry from the pain. Before you get the wrong idea — my boyfriend has been great about it, he’s lucky to get it twice a month and he’s been great. Sometimes he’s frustrated but I can’t blame him lol. The advice I’ve gotten is to not have intercourse until my fibroid can be taken care of however, that won’t be for probably 3 or 4 more years. I’m not okay with not having sex for 3 or 4 years!

Is there any advice anybody has that will make it even just a little easier, or not have it hurt the ENTIRE time???
Well, oral is good for a while but I don’t want to give BJ’s a few times a week! It’s not THAT fun lol! Plus I’m still really self conscience about my vagina and my periods that I don’t let him give me oral :S

I don’t think doctors can help with it… if you look up symptoms and stuff, painful intercourse is one :/

    • ANSWER:
I’ve only been having sex for a few months, and it was ridiculously painful for me. I’ve experienced no pleasure from it whatsoever.
I went to the doctor and she said I may have endometriosis. I’m not sure if it may be the same for you, but i’m just letting you know what i was told for me (but obviously, i don’t have any of the background issues like you do, the tumour etc).

You should probably see a doctor about it.

  13. QUESTION:
    Could it be ovarian cancer?
I had a baby when I was 26 years old, it was an emergency c-section for fetal distress. After the c-section I couldn’t stop bleeding and after 5 months my doctor did a d&c to clean out my uterus. After that I had a bad pap smear and had to have bad cells removed for mild displaysia. After that my pap came back normal. I then had a iud put in and it fell out. So I got off birth control and became pregnant again. I began bleeding 4 weeks into the pregnancy and at 13 weeks I miscarried, my placenta had a tear in it and it did not form completely. A d&c was perfomed. 7 months later I became pregnant again and gave birth at the end of Jan. this year. I bled a little after a repeat c-section, but 4 weeks after giving birth I started hurting on my right side. My doctor said I had over done it and it would go away. So I had the essure procedure done. It has been almost 6 weeks since I had essure done and I have not stopped bleeding since. I went to the doctor last Friday because this right side is still bothering me and they did an ultrasound and said I had a cyst on my right ovary that measured 4.3 cm. I got up Monday morning and was gushing blood and hurting so bad I couldn’t walk. I called the doctor and they admitted me into the hospital. They did another ultrasound and he said it appeared the cyst had ruptured, because it was now at 1.7 cm and there was fluid behind my uterus. He said that I had a fibroid tumor in my uterus also. He said the bleeding should stop. Well it hasn’t and I am still hurting on this right side. It is bright red blood. I am having hot flashes at night, and I am only 29 years old and not going through menopause. I hate to call the doctor again, because I feel like they are just blowing me off, but the pain is almost unbearable and I have had diarrhea for 3 days now. Should I have him biopsy this cyst to see if it is cancer? Should I just go to the er? I honestly don’t trust this doctor’s judgement. I know my body and something is not right!!!!
I also have had trouble with endometrosis before and I explained this to the doctor, but he did not seemed concerned about it. Today I am very light headed and just don’t feel right. I have had cyst rupture before but it is nothing like this. I can not pick my 3 year old son up without buckling at the knees. Last night I was helping him to the bathroom and we were in a hurry and I ran him down the hall and I could not get out of the floor for ten minutes I hurt so bad on my side. I started working out about 3 weeks ago and about 10 minutes after each session I would get diarrhea and start bleeding. The doctor just told me to quit working out.

  14. QUESTION:
Plus Size Mommy’s To Be, Did You Do Something Different To Conceive?
Looking for Advice From Plus Size Mommy’s To Be

We have been TTC#1 since April with no luck :(

    I am 5’5 , 210 (Size 14)

My weight and 3 Fibroid Tumors located outside of my uterus are the only health problems I have.

We tried using an OPK, BBT, and CM charting (2 of the 4 cycles TTC) and still haven’t fallen preggo.

My Dr. stated no additional test can be performed until after a year of being unsuccessful and seems to believe my weight is the only issue.

If there is another reason I won’t find out for another year…
Well, I am 33 going on 34, my weight has always been a problem and it isn’t going anywhere.
I feel like the waiting game will cause me to miss my opportunity of becoming a Mommy.

My cycle comes every 30 days but I am starting think my progesterone levels maybe too low to conceive or I am not ovulating.
(since my OPK surge stays positive for several days)

At this point, I would appreciate any advice, suggestions, or just support.

I am losing hope, and beginning to think baby dust will never find it’s way to me :(

I want to do whatever I can to finally get that BFP!!!

    HELP!!

    • ANSWER:
If your bbt is charting like it should with a rise after ovulation then you are ovulating. If it doesn’t have that rise and stay high then you aren’t ovulating even if the opks are positive. Have you considered trying fertilaid? It is supposed to work really well in regulating hormones and helping to get pregnant. They sugggest you take it for atleast 3 months to make sure you get the best benefit from it.

  15. QUESTION:
Watery CM at 10DPO? Could I be PG this cycle? No signs of AF yet.?
I’m a tad overweight and had a fibroid 5cm big going through my uteran wall which was found last april. OB and specialist at that time said that though I have a fibroid is is not in an area on my uterus that would affect my chances of conceiving at all, which is a relief and good sign for me.

Today is 10DPO. I woke up 20 mins earlier than usual and the weather outside got a lot colder than it was yesterday and last night. My temp went down from 97.48 to 97.41.

I did not have to for very far like the near the middle of first and second joint of finger (finger in a little less than halfway) and I noticed that I had “wet” CM.

It was slippery and wet when I lightly rub my fingers together, but not stretchy. Almost like the watery fertile CM I have before I ovulate.

I know from checkming my CM and charting that I did O already and today would be 10DPO…at 6DPO I had sticky CM & at 7 & 8 DPO I had Creamy CM..I did not check yesterday.

On a normal cycle, either today or tomorrow would be the day that I start spotting to know that AF is on it’s way (tomorrow (11DPO) is when it’s supposed to start at earliest and saturday (13DPO) at latest and I always get signs 2-3 days before it’s here that it’s coming) but I have yet to see any signs of it showing up as of now. I pray it stays away.

I test in 2 days to see what’s going on. Wish me luck and pray for me the best you can. Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
Please let us know what you find out… I think I’m in the same situation. Though, I’m only 7 DPO. After ovulation my CM turned to a sticky and creamy white (almost lotion-like) CM as it usually does. But, yesterday (at 6 DPO) it turned into a watery like CM, not really super wet or super slippery, but definitely not like the lotion-like CM I usually have. I too know that I actually ovulated from my temps… which have stayed up since O, but I forgot to temp this morning before I jumped out of bed, so I have no idea what today was :( Anyway, good luck to you and lots of baby dust your way. Hopefully you’ll get your BFP in a few days and you can share your expertise with the rest of us.

  16. QUESTION:
Preterm Labor at 31 weeks, what now?
I went into preterm labor at 31 weeks (just last week). They got the contractions to stop and was home after 3 days in the hospital. I am still 1.5 cm dilated. The doctors gave me steroids to help the baby’s lungs and brain to mature faster. They said he was small most likely due to a large fibroid on my uterus (measuring 13.5x10cm). Its like being pregnant with twins, but only having one baby at the end… I also have gestational diabetes and have had a lot of other issues during the pregnancy. Could I go into preterm labor again? If so, how soon do you think?

    • ANSWER:
I have twins but didn’t go into preterm because of contractions but did deliver at 33.?? weeks. My friends went into preterm and the doctors were able to stop the labor until they were 34 weeks or if they delivered around 32 weeks the twins or baby would be in the NICU 4-6 weeks. I do know if you start going back into labor at 34 weeks they probably will just let you go and not try to stop the labor again because the baby’s lungs should be mature.

I know they have probably told you to stay in bed, it’s funny to say it’s tiring to stay in bed but it is and you somehow have to make it!

  17. QUESTION:
    Mass adjacent to ovary?
Can someone please explain what this means in english? The uterus is retroverted and measures 7.6x 4.0×4.7 cm in length. The endometrium is normal, measuring 0.8 cm in length. There is a solitary 7 mm, hypoechoic intramural fibroid identified within the mid body anteriorly. The right ovary measures 3.0x 1.5x 2.6 cm. Within the right ovary is a 1.6x 1.6x 1.8 cm hypoechoic structure that contains low level internal echoes and some increased through-transmission. The left ovary measures 3.6x 2.2×2.1 cm and contains a bilobed 3.5x 1.9x 2.1 cm hypoechoic structure that also contains low level internal echoes. Adjacent to the ovary on the left is a 3.9x 2.7x 2.5 cm structure that is of mixed echogenicity. There is a small amount of uncomplicated free fluid. I am very worried

    • ANSWER:
You don’t need to be worried. In plain english it means you have fibroid tumors which are NOT cancer. They are just a lump of tissue that causes pain. Why didn’t your Dr explain this to you. No Dr should allow a patient to leave the office without proper explanation. It’s just a lot of fancy words for something non threatening. Hope this puts your mind at ease. Mind you, if they get bad, you may need surgery to remove them but at least it’s not cancer. Good luck

  18. QUESTION:
I need to know wht this means.?
My First Utrasound 2/1/08 stated hypoechoic measuring approximatly 1.5 is identified in the posterior aspect of uterine fundas. This was present from 10/06/06. This may represent leiomymatous change. no disrete fibroid actually seen. Endomettrial lining 2mm. Nothing seen in right or left ovarie of solid adnexal mass free in cul-de-sac. However L/O changed in size. They did another Utrasound on 3/10/08. Very large difference. Post menopausal, Findings: Uterus grew from 7.6×3.5x4cm from utrasound above, 10.2×5.4×5.1.cm A hypoechoic area noted in fundas previously not well defined today. Endometrium also grew from 2mm to 12mm. Endometrium is heterogeneous in echotexture with small cystic area seen fundally. Left andexa grew from 2.7etc…to 5.1etc….and two hypoeechoic nodules mesuring 2
Right adnexa: 5.1×3.4x7cm. Two hypoechoic nodules measuring 2.3×2.3×2.1cm and 2.8×2.2×2.4 cm respectively are likely hemorrhagic functional cyst. These have lace-like internal echoes nodules. Hemorrgic

  19. QUESTION:
Large partially pedunculated fibroid leiomyoma 10.2 x 8.6 x 9.7 of the anterior uterus… HELPPPPPPPPPPPP?

-I always had heavy period since a teen
    -around 2 to 3 days
-only when lose weight in 2007 my period is around 5 to 6 days with no pain at all.
-sometimes painful period who changed to be worst now, and right side got worst in last 3 years with clog blood peace going aout.
-constipation on and off but now for my period this month my belly got so big and bloated and I was constipated now I started going again.

Please God is giving an opportunity to heal myself. By showing me that I have been sick for years trough all this tragedy, I discover it. Please give me information about my condition anyone is welcome/ what food to eat and not/ what life to lead/ what supplement to takes/ what natural medicine is good/ what surgery is involved/ do this fibroids turn into cancer. HELPPPPPPP PLEASE.

I will see a doctor this Tuesday and hope better news and hope he tells I will be able to have 1 baby.

    • ANSWER:
Its a fibroid – not the type that leads to cancer – and some of the other abdominal symptoms you have are related to it.

Its not uncommon at all – and yours is not even all that large compared to some.

Sometimes they do laser surgury to remove them – but they are usually not considered serious at all. Sometimes birth control pills keep the symptoms under control. I’m guessing folks are going to suggest vitex and black cohosh – I would avoid those – you might make things worse.

      Inhale deeply – exhale fully.
The chances are very good you will be fine, and having children.

      Good Luck and Be Well
